Een ongewone dag vond plaats op de Groenplaats<\/strong>. Als vrienden die elkaar uiteindelijk vonden<\/strong> was een heel gevarieerd publiek aanwezig op de stoelen en in de kraampjes, op en rondom het podium van het Shalom Festival. Jong en oud, traditioneel en hedendaags, van uiteenlopende culturen, geloof en belijdenis beleefden samen een dag in pakkende harmonie. Er was geen haat noch negativiteit te bespeuren.<\/p>\n \u00a0 Toch was er veel meer dan ambiance. <\/strong>Een doordachte boodschap van vrede, werd gebracht vanuit verschillende hoeken, aangevuld en beleefd, maakte dat het festival in woord en daad zijn naam waardig is. \u00a0 Sprekers \u2018We komen op de Groenplaats in een geest van verbinding tussen mensen van goede wil<\/strong>. Dialoog is bij uitstek de weg naar vrede,\u2019 zei Andr\u00e9 Gantman, lid van de gemeenteraad,<\/strong> stad Antwerpen, schrijver, jood en vanaf het begin zeer betrokken bij het Shalom Festival. Nick Vandeputte bracht een bemoedigende boodschap aan de joodse gemeenschap<\/strong>. De voormalige voorzitter van de Belgische Coalitie voor Isra\u00ebl zei: \u2018Jullie hebben veel vrienden en er zijn veel mensen die voortdurend voor jullie bidden\u2019. Nick, die vanaf zijn tienerjaren samen \u00a0met zijn familie joodse mensen uit Oekra\u00efne hielp naar Isra\u00ebl verhuizen, zelfs toen de grenzen gesloten waren, beseft de verantwoordelijkheid van elke Christen om \u00a0het joodse volk lief te hebben en hen in de moeilijke momenten bij te staan<\/strong>. \u2018Totale shalom-vrede is het doel van God, 329 keer in de Bijbel uitgedrukt\u2019, was de opening van zijn toespraak.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0 Het Shalom Festival is een baanbrekend initiatief<\/strong> van de Belgische Coalitie voor Isra\u00ebl, georganiseerd door Koinonia, Christenen voor Isra\u00ebl, Chr\u00e9tiens Amis d\u2019Israel, iMove Belgium, Anet, het Joods-christelijke samenwerkingsplatform Alliantie voor de vrede in het Midden- Oosten, ORT Belgium, Beautiful Israel, WIZO, Joods Actueel, B\u2019nai B\u2019rith Europa, Bne Akivah en het Forum der Joodse organisaties.<\/p>\n Het Shalom Festival zet Isra\u00ebl en de joodse gemeenschap in een positief daglicht<\/strong>, bouwt een platform van contacten tussen joodse mensen, Evangelische Christenen en de stad, bestrijdt antisemitisme en vervalsing van feiten tegen het Joodse volk.<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u2018Shalom Festival is een wonder op zich, het verwezenlijkt wat onmogelijk lijkt te zijn, overbrugd waar een kloof was en wakkert aan wat uitgeblust leek.<\/strong> Meer dan alle verwachtingen loste het Shalom Festival in en maakte een krachtig statement naar de stad en de pers. Shalom-vrede is een prioriteit en waard om na te streven. Elkaar ontmoeten, leren kennen, samen eten, samen dansen ruimt vooroordelen uit de weg en maakt plaats voor aanvaarding; het smelt harten in feite samen voor de toekomst.<\/strong>\u2019 Katia Van De Broeck, mede-organisatrice en dagelijks bestuurder van Koinonia.<\/p>\n \u00a0 Een propvolle Groenplaats werd meegesleept door de optredens van Boogie Boy. <\/strong>De bekende Vlaamse artiest liet voor de derde keer zijn joodse roots weerklinken op het Shalom Festival. Samen met het gospelkoor ETHIM kwam het tot een denderende apotheose tijdens het zingen van het welbekende, Joodse lied, \u2018Er is vrede in ons midden\u2019. Vrede was er tussen de Joodse en de Evangelische gemeenschappen die de voortrekkers van het evenement ook zijn. Een veelbelovende vriendschap die al lang niet meer in haar kinderschoenen staat werd op deze dag gevierd. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \u2018Ik zal zegenen wie u zegent\u2019 las Kofi Akuoku, voorganger van \u2018Kingdom Faith Ministries\u2019 voor uit de Bijbel ,vanuit Genesis 12:3. \u2018Die belofte gaf God aan de voorvader van het Joodse volk, om Zijn onvoorwaardelijke trouw aan hen te openbaren.\u2019 Zijn statement werd beaamd door de Ghanese voorganger uit Gent, Frank Owusu. \u00a0 Enkele Shalom uitspraken van medewerkers:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2018Fantastische organisatie! Like friends who finaly found each other<\/strong>, a very diverse audience sat on the chairs, under the stands, on and around the stage of the Shalom Festival. Young and old, traditional and modern, from diverse cultures, faith and confession, on ordinary or very serious matters, painted the day with an astonishing harmony. There was no trace of hate speech or bitterness.<\/p>\n \u00a0 Much more than entertainment was the content of the event. A well presented message of peace, served from different angles, supplemented and experienced, made the festival worthy of its name. In the middle of the Shalom festival, six Evangelical pastors of different nationalities were invited on stage to express their convictions on shalom-peace.<\/p>\n \u00a0 Speakers:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cWith a spirit of connection between people of good will<\/strong> we gathered at the Groenplaats. Dialogue is pre-eminently the way to peace,\u201d said Andr\u00e9 Gantman, member of the city council of Antwerp, writer, Jew and very involved in the Shalom Festival from the beginning.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are a Jewish institution, but our door is open to any student<\/strong> who realizes that we are representing the values of Judaism,\u201d said Charlotte Guntman, president of ORT-Belgium\u00a0and co-organiser of the Shalom Festival.<\/p>\n Nick Vandeputte brought an encouraging message. <\/strong>The former chairman of the Belgian Coalition for Israel reassured the Jewish community<\/strong> of the many friends they have and the fact that worldwide, \u201cmany people are constantly praying for you.” Nick, who has helped Jewish people from Ukraine move to Israel since he was a teenager, together with his family, even when the borders were closed, realizes the responsibility of every Christian to love the Jewish people and practically stand by them in their difficult moments. \u201cTotal shalom-peace is the goal of God, expressed 329 times in the Bible,\u201d the beginning of his speech.<\/p>\n \u00a0 The Shalom Festival is a groundbreaking initiative of<\/strong> the Belgian Coalition for Israel, organized by Koinonia, Christians for Israel, ‘Chr\u00e9tiens Amis d’Israel’,\u00a0iMove Belgium, Anet, the Jewish-Christian collaboration platform Alliance for Peace in the Middle East, ORT Belgium, Beautiful Israel, WIZO, \u2018Joods Actueel\u2019, B’nai B’rith Europe, Bne Akivah and the Forum of Jewish Organizations.<\/p>\n The Shalom Festival aims to bring Israel and the Jewish community in a positive light, builds a platform of contact between Jewish people, Evangelical Christians and the city, combats anti-Semitism and falsification of facts against the Jewish people.<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u201cShalom Festival is a miracle in itself, accomplishing what seemed impossible, bridging where there was a gap and reviving what seemed extinguished.<\/strong> The Shalom Festival surpassed all expectations and made a powerful statement in the city and the press. Meeting each other, getting to know each other, eating together, dancing together removes prejudices and paves the way for true acceptance; it actually melts hearts together for the future.\u201d Katia Van De Broeck, co-organizer and daily director of Koinonia.<\/p>\n \u00a0 The performances of Boogie Boy filled the crowded Groenplaats.<\/strong> The popular Flemish artist unfolded his Jewish roots for the third year during the Shalom Festival. Together with the gospel choir ETHIM, it reached thunderous apotheosis while singing the well-known Jewish song, ‘There is peace in our midst’. There was true peace between the Jewish and Evangelical communities who are the organisers of the event. A promising friendship that has matured with the years, was celebrated on the day. \u00a0 Shalom message of Evangelical pastors:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI will bless whoever blesses you,\u201d Kofi Akuoku, pastor of \u201cKingdom Faith Ministries,\u201d read from the Bible from Genesis 12:3. \u201cGod gave that promise to the ancestor of the Jewish people, to reveal His faithfulness to them.\u201d His statement was endorsed by the Ghanaian pastor from Ghent, Frank Owusu.<\/p>\n \u201cThis means that the Jewish community is a blessing to our city,\u201d added the Brazilian Antonio Albino.<\/p>\n \u201cWatch out for the anti-Semitic propaganda of the mainstream press\u201d was the address to the public of the Cameroonian Simon Khan, \u00a0pastor of the ETHIM church in Antwerp, regarding biased information about Israel and the Jewish people.<\/p>\n \u201cNothing less than a big apology for the pain and inappropriate treatment in the past,\u201d offered the Jewish community Leo Maeckelberghe, pastor of the Evangelical Church of Philadelphia in Hoboken-Antwerpen.<\/p>\n \u00a0 Shalom statements of volunteers:<\/strong><\/p>\n “Fantastic organization! De twee bands werden vergezeld door de hemelse klanken van het Hativka, gezongen door Michael Verschuren en de passionele dansstukken van Braziliaanse, Rwandese, Indonesische en multiculturele groepen die op deze manier hun steun en liefde voor Isra\u00ebl betuigden.

\u2018Waakzaam zijn voor de antisemitische propaganda in de pers\u2019 was de oproep naar de bezoekers toe van de Kameroense voorganger Simon Khan, van ETHIM-kerk Antwerpen, t.o.v. misleidende informatie over Isra\u00ebl en het Joodse volk.

\u201cWhat is the message that we can take with us, how can we work towards peace in our own environment<\/strong>, what are the keys on the way to peace in family, our city and as far as the Middle East?\u201d <\/strong>These were the questions presented to M. Freilich, a practicing Jew living in Antwerp. His answer on the podium of the Shalom Festival was spontaneous: ‘Respect for each other is the foundation’. He went on to explain that acceptance and wishing good to our neighbor are indispensable components in the grand concept of peace. “Several times a day we greet people with the word ‘shalom’ in our culture,” he emphasized \u201cShalom is a Biblical word and means an all-encompassing peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two bands were accompanied by the heavenly sounds of Hativka, sung by Michael Verschuren and the passionate dances of Brazilian, Rwandan, Indonesian and multicultural groups. They expressed in this way their support and love for Israel. Youth groups mixed with adults in the audience and on the dance floor throughout this very successful afternoon.<\/p>\n
